Tee!

Hi, I’m Tee. I also go by Tobi, Tobiloba or Lizzie but that last one’s a different story for a different day.

My goal is to help women to dress in ways that make them feel good and to take better care of their skin and body so they can look their absolute best. On this blog you can expect to find daily outfit inspiration, skincare tips and advice, lifestyle content, and so much more.

GET TO KNOW ME

Nigerian British. I was born and raised in London but I’m a Nigerian first, and that’s on Mary had a little lamb.

I am married to my best friend, lover, and photographer (thankfully they are all the same person) and we have two young kids together that collectively finish all of our snacks. We live in sunny Southampton, England, which, despite the sunshine, still somehow manages to remain cold for most of the year.

I’ve always had a certain level of interest in fashion but it was only after regaining my body confidence after losing weight that I felt I really had the push I needed to go out and redefine my fashion sense and style.

I started Personally Tee in December 2020 on the back of the worldwide pandemic, having discovered that dressing well, even with nowhere to go except the local supermarket, made me feel so much better about myself. As hinted above, I also lost a fair bit of weight during the on-off lockdowns which meant that I was able to “shop my closet” and enjoy some of my older clothes I’d given up hopes of ever wearing again that I’d packed into storage since having my kids! This, as well as a fair bit of time on Pinterest, really helped me to curate a personal sense of style for myself.

The name choice, “Personally Tee”, is very intentional as I realise that style is personal, and on this blog I’m sharing my own personal interpretation of style. But while it’s a personal thing that will look different to each individual, I do believe that we can take inspiration from others’ style choices to inform our own style which is why I hope to use Personally Tee to inspire women to dress in a way that makes them feel beautiful, more confident and ready to take on whatever life may throw at them.

I am a huge fan of Disney movies and Grey’s Anatomy (the earlier seasons were so much better than the more recent episodes though!) but more importantly, I love Jesus with my whole heart and I am ultimately trying to live my life in a way that pleases Him and gives Him glory

I will use any excuse to go to IKEA. Like literally any excuse.

That sweaty laughy emoji is my most commonly used one so take from that what you will.

I play the harp and have been playing since I was about 9 years old. Her name is Laura and she is a 34-string lever harp that was handmade by my first harp teacher, Keith.

I like to think of myself as an amateur interior designer with absolutely zero experience but a lot of heart! My husband is also an architectural engineer with a knack for DIY and a love for artwork so I can’t wait for us to do up our forever home when we get there.

My favourite drink is some Eastern European (possibly Polish) drink I had for the first time while living in Edinburgh that I don’t know the name of. I bought it randomly one day on a total whim and loved it so much but was never able to find again. I vaguely remember the packaging was green with a touch of red but I realise that that’s not a lot to go on!

My all-time favourite non-animated movie is the Hundred Foot Journey. I also love Mulan and the Lion King (staying true to my Disney obsession here).

And if I had to choose my last ever meal, it would be EITHER toasted hot cross buns slathered with butter and a hazelnut hot chocolate if I had a craving for something sweet

OR

My savoury option would be a plate with all of the following:

Jollof rice (Nigerian rice dish made from blended peppers, onions and tomatoes with added seasonings)

Nigerian fried rice (a bit like Chinese fried rice if you take away the oriental flavours and replace it with some Nigerian razzle dazzle)

Moin moin (Nigerian bean cake – it is absolutely amazing but very hard to describe. Honestly don’t think there’s anything to compare it to, it really is just in a league of its own)

Fried plantain (self-explanatory hopefully)

Peppered chicken gizzards with mixed peppers the way my Aunty makes them

Nigerian red beef stew (basically jollof rice minus the rice and add in some tender well-seasoned beef pieces)

Grilled chicken

And a boiled egg

I am a massive foodie in case that humongous plate of imaginary food didn’t make it obvious and I also have a Master’s degree in Food and Beverage Science because I’m just that committed to food.

Finally, I love sharing outfit ideas across my social platforms and I’m really looking forward to connecting with other bloggers through these.

Thanks for taking the time to read this page and getting to know a bit more about my personality personallytee (see what I did there 😉 ) I’m excited for what’s in store for this blog and would like to say a big thank you to you for coming on this journey with me!

Lots of love,

Tee
